Now Broadcasting (sometimes)

by on Nov.07, 2008, under Gaming, General, Webcam

Well, I’ve been playing around with broadcasting my TV whilst playing some games on the xbox, and it looks pretty good. I am using a Logitech Orbit AF camera running through Windows Media Encoder on my laptop wirelessly, and then off to the main page.

The camera can do some funky things like put a crown on my head while I move around.  I snapped the photo to the left with it.  They’ve got a LOT of downloadable fun things for this camera, and I really do like it a lot.  I plan on using it to watch the cats while we vacation.

Back to the post however – The first attempt was very choppy as I didn’t know what I was doing and had a “feature” of the camera enabled. I was only able to output about 10 fps but after disabling it, I can run a smooth 30 fps.  I have been showing 4×3 images of me playing Fallout 3 and Call of Duty 4 and hope to figure out how to show more widescreen versions of these, but I’m not sure if this camera can handle it.  With sound enabled, the framerate drops to about 25 fps, which is still acceptable, but definitely noticeable.  I plan on trying this out again next week.  Happy Weekend everyone!! (though if you’re reading this, then you might be the only one who’s read it!!!  Thank you)
